WHAT
ARE YOUR RESPONSABILITIES?
We are great photographers, but we are
not hair stylists,
dry cleaners, or mediators.
| |
• Please make sure your clothing is clean and pressed.
It is best to bring clothing hanging rather than folded
in a bag. Sweaters should be folded on hangers. Wrinkles
do show in the portraits.
• Hairstyles are such a personal preference. Make
sure your hair is exactly the way you wish it to appear
in the finished photographs. We cannot be responsible
for a bad hair day.
• Make sure to tell us anything you had in mind
for your senior portraits. The more you tell us about
your ideas and style, the more we can create images that
reflect who you really are!
PARENTS ARE ENCOURAGED
TO ATTEND
• We feel nobody knows your son or daughter better
than you do. We value your input during the session.
Many of the photographs will be for you and your family
and we want to make sure we are on track getting just
what you want. Giving you what you want is our sincere
goal! Although your initial thought may be that you feel
your presence may make your child uncomfortable, we have
found the opposite to be true. It is really
a fun experience to share with your teenager.
• If you are unable to attend the session, we would
greatly appreciate some input. We are flexible, creative
and award winning photographers, but we are not mind readers.
What might be ideal to one parent could be deemed unacceptable
to another. Our clients have different tastes and
opinions; once we know them we can tailor what we
do to your preferences. Please take a moment to write
down any request and send it with your senior to the session.
Make note of expression
preferences, if you are trying to match previous senior’s
portrait, or if you have specific concerns. Make sure
the clothing your senior is bringing is acceptable to
you. |
KNOW
YOUR YEARBOOK REQUIREMENTS
We work with students from over 45 different high schools.
Yearbook guidelines change each year. Please find out
the specific requirement from your school, and be sure
to tell us prior to taking the pictures. |

PROFESSIONAL
WARDROBE SUGGESTIONS
Have a Dress Rehearsal the night before......head to toe with
accessories.
What
makes you look slimmer? |
What
adds weight to your look? |
Considerations
for Everyone.
• Think about having one of your outfit selections
repeat your eye color, especially a long sleeve shirt or
sweater.
• Leather, suede or outerwear jackets worn over an
outfit adds variety to your session. We can do some photographs
with your jacket and some without to give an outfit more
options.
• DO NOT choose a garment that is too tight. This
problem is usually obvious in the photographs, and will
add weight.
• Jewelry is fun to wear, but watches are not appropriate
in portraits.
• Make sure to dress from head to toe! Think through
each outfit to make sure you have shoes, hose, dark socks,
undergarments, belts and jewelry to coordinate.
Why do we so strongly recommend long sleeves?
Unless you want to feature your armpits and elbows, long
sleeves are the best choice. Short sleeves or sleeveless
clothing eliminate over half our options of poses. When
you look at a great portrait your eye should go to the person’s
face. Arms steal emphasis away from the face. If you must
wear sleeveless clothing make it only 1 of your outfits. |
•
Darker clothing, especially pants (light or white pants
add weight)
• Long sleeve clothing
• Clothes that fit properly
• Shoes with heels |
•
Short sleeves or sleeveless
clothing
• White or light garments, especially pants
• Horizontal stripes
• Light colored belts
• Face that is too tan! |
What
makes you look taller? |
What
makes you look shorter? |
•
Similar tones on top and bottom lengthen your appearance
• Shoes with heels |
•
Outfits with a lot of contrast
(light top and dark bottom)
• Flat shoes
• Light colored shoes with dark outfit |
If you cannot decide which outfits are best for you, bring along
additional choices and we will be happy to help you decide which
ones will photograph best.
Important
Notes
• Makeup... If you see
images of girls in magazines that do not look like they
have any makeup on, believe me they do! If you are accustomed
to doing your own makeup apply it for evening. Do not use
any glitter or sparkles anywhere! Bring your mascara and
powder along for touch-ups on facial shine.
• Brows... It is best
to have your eyebrows waxed about 3-7 days before your session.
• Bumps & Blemishes...
all of your finished prints will have standard
facial retouching, so don’t worry!
•
Nails... your hands will be
in your portraits, have your nails done!
• Hair...Do not style
your hair so it hangs in your face or your eyes. If you
wear it this way, it will be like that in your photographs,
and may cause shadows.
• Avoid too much sun!
A little color is always attractive, but a dark tan will
show more flaws in the skin. Over-tanned faces look heavier
and rounder. We
cannot neutralize the redness of a burn.Tan lines require
additional artwork to remove. An additional charge is added
for that service. |
If
You Wear Glasses
Glasses
cause distortion to your facial features. They also cause
glare from
photographic lights. It is vital that you do one of three
things.
1) Ask your eye doctor to
loan you a pair of frames. Most doctors are happy to help
with this.
2) Remove the lenses here
at the studio and replace them after the session. We can
help you if your glasses have screws that loosen.
3) Try some photographs with
and without your glasses. |

specific
tips FOR THE SESSIONS YOU HAVE SELECTED
Senior Deluxe, Our most popular session, includes three outfits.
Instead of selecting three random outfits we have developed
this
concept to get the most variety out of your session.
| |
 |
The
Parent Pleaser
Your first outfit should be the most classic garment you
choose. Select clothing that will not be outdated in just
a few years. It is likely that a portrait created in this
outfit will be chosen as a wall portrait for your home.
You may consider discussing this with your parents and deciding
in which room the portrait will be displayed. Coordinating
your outfit with the room’s décor is a smart
move. Matching the color and formality of the room gives
the wall portrait a decorators look. |
| |
 |
The
Senior Pleaser
This outfit is 180 degrees in the opposite direction from
outfit #1! This outfit can be trendy and fun. Wear something
your friends will recognize you in. This is for your personality
to shine through. If you are going to wear a sleeveless
outfit, this is the time to do it. |

The
Great Outdoors
(May thru November 1st)
Look to your fall wardrobe, it is the very best look for
outdoor portraits. Absolutely avoid white! Look to colors
in nature such as browns, tans, greens, and blues. Avoid
red and absolutely avoid wearing white. Also, avoid wearing
shorts. Casual clothing that you can get down in the grass
in is best. Remember to carry the color theme throughout
your entire outfit, no white shoes. (Even during the warm
months, long sleeves are superior to short.) After November
1, outdoor appointments are available weather and temperature
permitting. Don’t worry if it is cloudy or even raining
on the day of your session. We are often able to work around
the showers. We want to make sure you take advantage of
the camera room time that you have reserved. |

CLOTHING
HINTS FOR YOUR ADD-ON SESSIONS
FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE SCHEDULED ANY ADDITIONAL ADD-ON SESSIONS
Hollywood
Avoid light colors. Remember that just because we
are photographing in black and white does not mean
your clothing has to be black and white. These images
are from the waist up, so do not worry about shoes.
You should have jeans or black pants because we may
see slightly below your waist. Two outfits are included
so you can do a dressy and casual. (Only one outfit
if combined with Daydream White.) |
Friends
Group
Have your friends arrive at the same time you do.
We will begin your session with the friends, so that
those who need to go can leave. Coordinating your
clothing is fun to do. Friends groups can range from
3 to 12 people. If you have a large group for outdoors
you need to make sure your session is scheduled for
the correct time of day. |
|
Activities
& Collections
Think outside the box for these images.. anything
goes! LESS IS MORE! |
Daydream
White
Absolutely NO EXCEPTIONS!!!.. must be wearing all
white for this session in order to achieve this desired
look. Makeup will be done for you, so don’t
stress about that. Soft, feminine fabrics with long
sleeves will be best. One outfit for the Daydream
White. |
Xtreme
Avoid light colors. Dark jeans or black pants work
best. Bright colored tops with (you guessed it), longer
sleeves works best. |
